You won’t only save time and money, also headaches.

Before Handyman Home Services comes in, you have to decide first on the following:

#1 Controls - It is much easier to have wall-mounted controls rather than the pull-chain that is normally found in most ceiling fans. The best part about having a wall-mounted control or a remote is that you can dim or control lights and select fan speed and direction. Some controls even have timers and program when you want fans to come on or turn off.

#2 Lights - There is a wide variety of lighting options to choose from. You can ask Handyman Home Services about the special hardware needed.

#3 Blade - There are different sizes designed to fit into specific spaces. Install a small ceiling fan that is certified for most environments to help prevent mold and mildew build-up

Make sure you consider these things before you have your ceiling fan installed. If your ceiling fan is selected and installed right, your new ceiling fan will keep your home cooler in the summer months and it will help bring down your air conditioning bills. They will also add a new touch to your home with some visual flair.

WHIRLPOOL CANADA WINS 4th ENERGY STAR MANUFACTURER AWARD

Whirlpool Canada today was awarded the 2012 ENERGY STAR® Manufacturer of the Year award by Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN). The award recognizes the company's leadership in offering consumers energy and water efficiency through its leading home appliance brands.

The NRCAN Manufacturer of the Year award evaluates multiple product lines when determining the winner — making it a very comprehensive honor. This is Whirlpool Canada's ninth ENERGY STAR award and fourth consecutive Manufacturer of the Year win, earning that award for the seventh time in 10 years. Whirlpool has been honored with 25 ENERGY STAR awards overall in North America, more than any other appliance manufacturer.

"As Manufacturer of the Year, we are proud of our commitment and support for the ENERGY STAR program in Canada," said Joe Liotine, vice president and general manager, Whirlpool Canada. "Providing ENERGY STAR qualified products to Canadians is a crucial component to our business, and one we will continue to prioritize in partnership with the ENERGY STAR program in Canada."

As the market leader in efficiency, Whirlpool has made energy and water consumption a priority, and as a result, has driven innovation especially in High Efficiency Top Load Laundry units. In Canada, Whirlpool specifically offers some of the most water- and energy-efficient kitchen and laundry products that are on the market. In 2011, Whirlpool Canada achieved a new company record for ENERGY STAR qualified major household appliances manufactured in Canada. It also set new records for shipments of ENERGY STAR refrigerators and washers last year. Both milestones helped it qualify for the Manufacturer of the Year Award.

The company manufactures and markets over 470 ENERGY STAR qualified appliances for the U.S. and Canadian markets, more than any other appliance manufacturer. Product launches and other innovations from 2011 include:

--  Three new ENERGY STAR-qualified platforms were introduced in 2011. The platforms meet the Tier 3 high efficiency criteria set by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency.

--  Whirlpool Canada introduced a new premium line of top mount refrigerators. More than three-quarters of the models qualified for the ENERGY STAR logo.

-- Maytag brand delivered an award-winning advertising campaign during Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts of the Stanley Cup playoffs, resulting in an unprecedented number of impressions and sales of the Maytag Maxima that was featured in the ads.

--  Whirlpool Canada placed high priority on training sales associates about ENERGY STAR-qualified products. The company increased the number of trained associates by double digits and dedicated 80 percent of training content to ENERGY STAR.

-- Social media was also given much attention in 2011 and the Whirlpool brand increased its number of Facebook users to 65,000/month. This was done in part by posting energy saving tips and integrating Facebook with the company's Great Green Challenge, which allows Canadians to connect with other families who are trying new ways to conserve energy.

WHIRLPOOL’S KEY ROLE IN DEVELOPING INDUSTRY”S FIRST EVER SUSTAINABILITY STANDARDS

Experts from Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) played a key role in helping to develop the industry's first ever sustainability standards. The sustainability standards for refrigerators, announced today by the Association for Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), are the result of cooperative work by UL Environment, CSA Group and the AHAM taskforce consisting of industry experts fromWhirlpool Corporation and other manufacturers.

The new standard encompasses a very broad view of an appliance's environmental impact — taking into account not only the  energy a refrigerator consumes while in use, but also examining the environmental impact of  the product manufacturing process, materials used, and how recyclable the product is.  This new standard moves the industry well beyond its historical leadership in energy efficiency alone.
"We are proud of our involvement in this task force as it is truly an extension of our 30-year leadership in advancing important energy and water conservation standards." said JB Hoyt the director of sustainability and regulatory affairs for Whirlpool Corporation and vice chair of the AHAM taskforce. "Whirlpool is also pleased to have recently developed, and now offer to consumers, a variety of refrigerators that meet this new standard."
Whirlpool Corporation has led the way in advancing green initiatives for home appliances for more than three decades. During that time the energy of appliances has declined from nearly 60 percent of an average home's energy use, to levels as low as 15 percent. The company now sells refrigerators that use the equivalent power of a 40-watt light bulb and dishwashers that use seven times less water than hand washing dishes.
