When I go out on service calls for preventive maintance checks on washers and I noticed the rubber fills hoses that connect to the washer would get bubbles in them, some small, some large. After time those will burst and start flooding your laundry area and if your laundry room is in your house that can be quite the mess and cause massive floor damage to say the least.

The operating temperature range inside your refrigerator should be between 36F and 45F. The optimum temperature of the refrigerator is 40F. Any lower and you take a chance on freezing some items; any warmer and you risk spoilage of certain food items. The freezer temperature range should be between -10F to +10 F. The optimum temperature of the freezer is between 0F and 5F. You can check the temperatures in both compartments with the MA-RT1 thermometer. If your refrigerator is not quite cool enough, adjust the thermostat one increment cooler on the dial and wait 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. If it is a little too cool, adjust it one increment warmer and wait 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.

May I Put Any Freezer Inside My Garage?

Many people run a refrigerator in their garage during the summertime to store extra cold drinks and such for parties and cookouts, but refrigerators are not designed to be in cold areas. If the temperature goes too low, you will cause excessive wear on the compressor. If you decide to leave it in the garage all winter, you should turn it off, clean it out, and leave the door slightly ajar. This will help prevent mold and mildew from accumulating in the refrigerator. If it gets too cold outside, depending on how your self defrost system is set up, it may not defrost well.

The thermostat, located in the refrigerator part of the appliance, senses when the temperature rises above the set level and turns on the compressor causing the freezer to cool and pushing the cold air produced in the freezer part into the refrigerator part.

For a refrigerator located in the garage, where the air temperature gets much colder, the thermostat does not sense a rise in outside air temperature and therefore, never kicks the compressor on. Because the compressor does not come on, cold air is never produced in the freezer. The temperature in your freezer, therefor, begins to rise.

To prevent this from happening, install a garage refrigerator kit. The kit gets installed next to your refrigerator's thermostat and produces a small amount of heat which "tricks" the thermostat into thinking it is in a much warmer environment. The compressor turns on and allows the freezer to produce more cold air.

A garage refrigerator kit will provides the proper heat source to keep the refrigerator working properly while in very cold temperatures.

Sears Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator(model#106.56563400): Not cooling well, freezer items not hard enough and refrigerator section warming up too. When I touched the middle cabinet divider it was very hot. I pulled the refrigerator out from the wall, then took off the lower back access cover and found the condenser fan motor not turning, it had gone bad.

1997 Sears Kenmore washer (model#110.26912691): Not agitating or spinning, but you can hear the motor running. Took the cabinet off, then removed the water pump and motor, then I saw the motor coupling broken, and lots of oil coming from the gearcase. I showed the customer the oil leak and they said, we have had good use from it, and its time for another new Sears Kenmore. I agreed.
