Old is the Machine? Also Known As Machine Day Requirements

Appliance manufacturers often use a date code as part the of the units serial number to signify when it was manufactured. We technicians use these date codes daily to assist in determining whether an appliance is still covered by a factory warranty in the absence of a purchase receipt. These codes and how to read them change from company to company, but I have put this list together covering how to break down the codes, and some examples of how to read them. This list will work for most newer appliances as long as you are reading from the correct format. Often times, appliances are made by one manufacturer for another so the format may not always look the same from appliance to appliance. I will update this list as I find changes, omissions, and corrections. If you need to know when an appliance was made, this list should help.
